- Tylor Freeborn: Remember when I wrote about the pale Men? Remember the stories? The pictures? Okay, okay, check this out. That's one of them, one of the Pale Men. They are real. They came with the mist. i think they belong to the mist... or maybe it's the other way around, I haven't decided yet. You know the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin? He had a magic flute. first he lured all the rats in town into the sea. And then... After they refused to pay him for his services, he played the flute again. Only this time, it wasn't the rats that came with him into the water. It was the children. I could swear I heard music when the mist took everyone away, into the sea. I knew it wasn't natural. I warned them, but they wouldn't listen. They wouldn't listen. So I plugged my earbuds in, turned the volume up real loud, crawled under the table and shut my eyes. When Springsteen stopped playing, everything had gone dead quiet. Susie's was completely empty. the whole damn town was empty. And the mist had pulled back, out to sea. no more than half an hour at most. Those few days before they all came back were odd days. We lost a couple of people who tried to pass through the mist. we heard the screams... And we didn't know what to do, why we were still here. Well. I knew. I know. I'm still here because I'm needed. It's my job, my duty, to find out what happened. what came with the mist. Who the Pale Men are. What they're after. And what lies... beyond. Beyond the mist.

In some versions the pied piper returned the children - troubled and scathed - after adequate payment was made.
The end of our version will be nowhere near as uplifting. Solomon's children are gone. You will not be going out there to bring them back.
Nonetheless, you will be going out there. Hopeless or not, the fog has a story to tell. Seek it out, listen to it, unravel the mystery of the second strain.
Illuminati
There is now enough evidence of a distinct airborne strain of Filth that came with the fog. This could mean a partial or complete reformulation of what we now about the outbreak on Solomon Island. It could mean we have to rethink our strategy for mitigating the infection. It could mean everyone's infected already.
It could mean you're infected already. Frankly, it could mean a lot of things. Executive summary: suit up, you're going in.
Templar
I did not like how closely the military was working with Orochi. I did not like the ease with which a rogue blogger was allowed to prance around and disseminate dangerous information. I did not like how little we knew of said information. I certainly did not appreciate the notion of a distinct airborne strain of Filth. I absolutely loathe the repercussions on the inhabitants of Solomon Island.
Finally, I cannot abide the idea of one of my best agents strolling off into the fog.
However, in all these cases, what I like has absolutely no bearing on what must be done.
I suggest you wear something bright.

Walkthrough
There are 4 tiers to this mission.
Tier 1
- Tier 1: Go to the Orochi Encampment
- The Encampment is situated at around (692,825)
- You can jump on the bus at (692,846) to get in
- Find the traces of Tyler Freeborn
- Right in front of the bus you jumped from is another bus, situated at (675,823).
- Inside it you will find a camera, interact with it.
Tier 2
- Tier 2: Examine the nearby research laptop
- Interact with the laptop. Options 1 then two are the one to advance the quest.
- Get a normal human blood sample
- In the nearest tent with a vent, whose entrance is situated at (688,781), you will find the normal human sample.
- To get inside, you will need to use a Hydrogene Sulfide Canister on the vent at the back of the tent.
- The Canister are found all around the Orochi camp. Use the Canister, then wait for the Orochi guy to come out before getting inside.
- Get a filthy human blood sample
- Repeat the same trick with the Hydrogene Sulfide Canister on the tent situated at (728,785) and you will get the filthy human blood sample.
- This tent is on the other side of the camp.
- Get a second filthy blood sample
- For this one, no need for to drop Hydrogene Sulfide in the vent.
- Simply go in the first tent of the camp, located at (692,808), and get the second filthy blood sample.
- It is near the Draug corpse.
- Confirm the results using the first blood sample
- In the same tent as the second filthy blood sample is a microscope. It is on a table accross the room.
- Use it three time, once per sample to advance the quest.
- Confirm the results using the second blood sample
- Confirm the results using the third blood sample
- Read the experiment results and conclusion.
- To read the result, head back to the first truck,(675,823), and interact with the laptop this time.
- Option 1 then 3 will advance the quest and get you the results.
Tier 3
- Tier 3: Head to the CDC Camp
- The CDC camp is around (892, 713), on the top left of the map.
- Find a respirator
- You’ll find the box of respirators at (888,708), take one.
- Read the crumpled note.
- At the bottom of the box is now a crumpled note, revealed when you took the respirator. Interact with it.
Tier 4
- Tier 4: Head to Whale Watch
- Whale Watch is situated at (90,644)
- Find a bathymetric map
- The map is pinned on the deck of the boat, at (41,651). On top of the stairs.
- Go to the shallowest part of the ocean
- The map revealed the shallowest part of the ocean at (206,934), head there.
- Examine the camera
- Interact with the camera. It launches at cut scene. The quest is finished.
