Dialogue

Initial Cutscene

Eleanor Franklin: We get by in peace and sadness, the ghosts and I.
Eleanor Franklin: Like in an old folks home, I suppose. We keep each other company.
Eleanor Franklin: The ones up in the mine, that's a different story. A real horror story.
Eleanor Franklin: They weren't just Ed's crew, they were our friends.
Eleanor Franklin: My soirees were the talk of Kingsmouth. A touch of New York galmour to the sticks.
Eleanor Franklin: It's why I had the pool dug, you know.
Eleanor Franklin: And no, I don't mean the kind of party where you leave your keys in a bowl.
Eleanor Franklin: I know they still linger, and suffer. Must be lonely under those old, cold rocks.
Eleanor Franklin: Back in the day, when I would still leave the house, I tried to silence those voices.
Eleanor Franklin: I called every priest, every psychic and paranormal investigator in Maine, and not one of them stayed overnight.
Eleanor Franklin: Even the Indians, and that little Ami girl, offered their native mumbo-jumbo.
Eleanor Franklin: At the time, I thought "the nerve of it," considering the part they played in the whole mess.
Eleanor Franklin: But I suppose they were only trying to help.
Eleanor Franklin: Sometimes, when the wind comes, I hear those boys at the mine singing,
Eleanor Franklin: but I can never quite make out the words.

Chuck Thompson 1

When you first find him

Chuck Thompson: Been held under so long, I ain't even got the memory of the man I was. No loving memory.

Chuck Thompson 2

When you return the picture to him

Chuck Thompson: Would you look at that. One fine day, that was. How do you like it, Rigsby, you undead sonofabitch? Ain't no more Christmas where you're headed.

Billy Woodrow 1

When you first find him

Billy Woodrow: I could sure use the thought of a drink. It's dry under these rocks. Dry, and cold as the last frost.

Bill Woodrow 2

When you return his flask to him

Billy Woodrow: That's the stuff. Damn shame my courage died down here before I did.

Sam Wilson 1

When you first find him

Sam Wilson: Ed took the fall for Jimmy's temper. We all fell. Seems to me you oughta square things up with Mr Rigsby.

Sam Wilson 2

As you come into the room after the elevator room

Sam Wilson: (singing) Digging 'till our hands are red, digging when it's Jimmy should be dead-

Sam Wilson 3

As you come into the room with Jimmy Rigsby's remains

Sam Wilson: (singing) Ed took the fall for Jimmy's temper. We all fell. Finish this for us.

We were always happy to see the Illuminati dig themselves a deeper and deeper hole out there. We are ready to admit we might have been too eager for them to fall, and not paying enough attention to how.

What you witnessed inside the mine is what happens when you dig too deep in the wrong spot without the proper knowledge. We can see the dire consequences of the Illuminati's reckless actions.

The Wabanaki obviously knew this was a fragile environment, and they paid a dear price for that knowledge. But they paid it willingly and they served their purpose. We should make sure it was not all in vain.

Be careful how many skeletons you dig up out there, champ. Some of them are more than likely ours. And the last thing we need is the Council doing an official investigation on Solomon Island.

That mine has been a sore topic around here for a couple of centuries. We had nothing to do with that accident, though. No, seriously, it wasn't us. Somebody - or something - beat us to it. And our own man, Franklin? He dropped the ball completely. He would have ended up at Arkham, but in the end he did us all a favor by taking matters into his own hands.

So we may have knocked a few holes in the Filth-pipes down there. Sue us! The Wabanaki will be screaming "told you so," but we honestly thought they were just being dramatic. I suppose we'll have to put that one up on the board in the column for lessons learned. Whatever.

I’m not at all surprised that mine is filled with skeletons and ghosts. The Illuminati had a free run of that island for centuries, and, unsupervised, they do tend to make a mess.

The scale of that mess is astonishing, if not surprising. In their recklessness they dug too deep, despite the vehement protests of those who knew the land best.

The ghosts of the miners are, of course, of little consequence, but the state of the mine is. Before we know exactly what we’re dealing with out there we should defer to the locals, and do our best to help them keep the situation contained.

Walkthrough

There are 5 tiers to this mission.

See Blue Ridge Mine (Solo Instance) for a map of the Blue Ridge Mine solo instance used in tiers 2 thru 5.

NOTE: This is a Sabotage Mission - and it is expected that you will need to sneak around a bit and do not attack everything you encounter. As such, while in the Blue Ridge Mine (Solo Instance)

  • Do not step in the red circles - they will summon a Spectre that will freeze you in place and do considerable damage - straight damage plus Afflicted with a DoT
    • Amount recorded so far is 3,822, but it is suspected that damage done is a percentage of your total health rather than a straight amount. 75% most likely.
    • The DoT does 31-37 HP damage per second for 10 seconds.
  • Do not attack the Hate Machines - they are extremely difficult to kill, even for someone overpowered for this zone
    • The filth pods on the floor are not deadly, but will explode and put a small Dot on you if you pass too close to them.

Tier 1/5

Tier 2/5

  • Find Chuck Thompson's remains
    • First room the right, by the elevator
    • Use the remains, he will turn into a Spectre, and will not attack but will tell you what he needs
  • Locate a picture of Chuck Thompson's family
    • Go back to the room you came in to the instance, and take the tunnel directly across from the entrance. Once you're in the next room, take the tunnel to the left. The picture will be in the back of the room, in the middle of one of the red circles. You can get it out without stepping in the red circle.
    • Also pick up the Dynamite while you're in there, it's on a crate under the lore
  • Place the picture by Chuck Thompson's remains
    • Go back to Chuck's body and use it again.

Tier 3/5

  • Find Billy Woodrow's remains
    • Take the tunnel that is straight across from the entrance to the instance. He'll be next to an ore cart.
  • Locate Billy Woodrow's whisky flask
    • Go back to the room with the instance entrance, and go right (the tunnel to the left if you'd just come in the entrance)
    • Watch out for the dynamite on the floor here, it will explode if you get to close to it.
      • Dynamite does about 1400 physical damage when it explodes and knocks you down for 3 seconds
    • The flask will be in the back of the room, behind one of the red circles
  • Place the whiskey flask by Billy Woodrow's remains
    • Take it back to Billy's body

Tier 4/5

  • Find Sam Wilson's remains
    • There will be a tunnel to the south-east of the room Billy was in, that ends in rubble.
    • Use the dynamite you picked up earlier to blow up the rubble
      • Make sure to back up before it blows.
      • Make sure to watch out for one of the roaming Hate Machines when you do this - it won't see you standing next to the rubble, but will see you if you back up while it's heading up that tunnel
    • Sam will be just to the left as you go into the room behind the rubble
  • Find Jimmy Rigsby's remains
    • Go back to the room with the entrance, then to the left where Frank and the elevator were. From there, go left again. Go straight through the room that overlooks a previous room.
    • You'll have to pass through a red circle here - no avoiding it. Just make sure to fully heal before continuing.
      • It is possible to avoid the damage - an active dodge will take you over the red circle without triggering it.
    • You'll pass through 1 more room, listen to Sam again, and then find Jimmy in the last room
  • Destroy the wraith of Jimmy Risgby
    • He won't attack until you "use" him - so you have time to grab the lore before engaging
    • Watch out for his Scyth Through attack - it will knock you down, and then he'll follow up with Psychopathy. You are Hindered with a Snare while he's casting it, so it's extremely difficult to avoid, especially if you're melee - interrupt it if you can.

Tier 5/5

  • Return to the Blue Mountain
    • You can now pass safely through the red circles on the way out - but you still need to watch out for Hate Machines
