Dialogue
Initial Cutscene
- Marianne Chen: Hey. Hey, hey! Halt! No closer! I'm getting some weird, some weird readings.
- Marianne Chen: You might be infected. Everyone here might be infected.
- Marianne Chen: I'm with the CDC, I represent the government, so you have to listen to me. We have... I have...
- Marianne Chen: This is a quarantined area, and I have authority...here. That's why I'm wearing the suit. That's what the suit means.
- Marianne Chen: It means the fecal matter has hit the fan, and we're staring Phase Seven dead in the eye.
- Marianne Chen: Frankly, if it didn't violate protocal, I could really use a hug.
- Marianne Chen: I feel very vulnerable, especially after the others were exposed.
- Marianne Chen: Terminally. They expired. Died. They died. Horribly. Cursing. Screaming. Gasping, vomiting, clawing their own eyes out.
- Marianne Chen: It was...icky. And then, when it's finally over and they're all dead, you think,
- Marianne Chen: Hey, that sucked but it's done, they're gone, we can deal with that.
- Marianne Chen: But, oh-no: rising from the dead, shambling ghouls, glowing eyes, tentacles, black slime.
- Marianne Chen: Not even your standard, government grade Category Z reanimation corpses.
- Marianne Chen: This is brand new terrifying. Run-for-the-hills terrifying. Despite all that training, you just want to skedaddle.
- Marianne Chen: It started down in that bog, just before the fog came.
- Marianne Chen: We'd been shipped in to support the Orochi Group. Not the other way around.
- Marianne Chen: I thought with a Democrat in office, we were past these kinds of dodgy arrangements,
- Marianne Chen: But I guess absolute power corrupts regardless. And absolutely.
- Marianne Chen: Just like this Category A agent. "The Filth." It corrupts absolutely. Body and soul.
- Marianne Chen: Yeah: "The Filth." That's what they call it. For real!
- Marianne Chen: How the hell do you work with a name like that? "The Filth." You're just asking for it.
- Marianne Chen: So if I were you, I'd keep my distance. "Safety first!"
Journal Entries
- Tier 1: The first step in finding out happened to the Solomon Island CDC crew is to learn who they were. Inspect Marianne Chen's laptop to find more details.
- Examine Marianne Chen's laptop
- Tier 2: The CDC team was dispatched to Solomon Island to examine the strange substance in the bog, just before the fog rolled in. When teh Filth-infected bodies of teh team members left the camp, it's likely they returned to the source of their misfortune.
- Search the bog for CDC members
- Tier 3: A former team member is shambling around the bog, a gruesome example of what the Filth can do. It would be inhumane to let them continue their existence like this.
- Kill Mavis Anderson
- Kill Killian Forsythe
- Tier 4: Another team member mentioned in teh report is Ernesto Ramirez. He's likely somewhere in the bog as well. Locate him and find out what happened.
- Locate Ernesto Ramirez
- Read Ernesto's tablet for clues
- Tier 5: According to Ernesto Ramirez's logs, the Filth is pouring from several pipes that lead into the bog. He was planning to block the pipes to make sure the Filth wouldn't spread to the ocean. Look for barrel lids to stop the flow.
- Collect barrel lids (0/3)
- Tier 6: Make your way to the different pipes in the bog and seal them, using the barrel lids.
- Seal the southern pipe.
- Tier 7: Just as the last pipe was sealed, the atrocious form of what must be the last missing CDC team member appeared. Unless he is stopped, your efforts would be in vain.
- Kill Frank McGrath

Report
Dragon
Mutation, madness, disease - to an extent these are essential parts of the cycle. But this Filth substance goes beyond that. It is an all-devouring force that must be contained.
There is a quarry nearby owned by Orochi. That is the source.
The role of the CDC was to support Orochi in the area. Like all government institutions, they are impotent. Orochi were the true representatives of power on the island, though for all their money and means they did not fare well.
It is terrible when people who do not believe in chaos seek to control it.
Illuminati
Good work. The CDC network allows us to retrieve information about this mysterious Filth substance. It's coming from the quarry and causing high levels of mutation, madness, sickness, entropy...
With all the Orochi and CDC personnel gone MIA, you should have no lack of case studies.
The CDC is great during a measles outbreak, but they're out of their depth on this one. All of their reports are of the "wtf?" variety. They were sent in to tag along with the Orochi group because the government likes to feel cooperated with.
Fun fact: the quarry is owned by Orochi.
Templar
Outstanding work! We are both excited and terrified by the prospect of further analysing this Filth substance.
Access to the CDC network gives us insight into the effects of exposure. It also offers a glimpse into the backrooms of American politics. The CDC is a government organization whose mandate is to prepare and apply control measures in precisely this kind of apocalypse.
And yet Orochi were given full control over the operation on the island.
Orochi also happens to own the quarry, which is the source of those pipes bursting with Filth.
