Type: Non-player Character
Headquarters: Tokyo

Váli (slogan: "Mapping the Miracle of Life") is one of eight subsidiaries of the Orochi Group[1]. They claim to be the world leader in biotechnology and genetic research, "we work to unlock the full human potential in the present, and safeguard it from harm in the generations to come." Váli focuses on biotechnology and genetic research, [2] including: Genetics, DNA research, Biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, but also Cryptozoology[3] Cryptobotany [4][5], and abductions of sentients including human children for purposes of research. Vali billboards around Tokyo show a child with paranormal abilities being removed from its family by Váli personnel with the tagline "問題児? 我々がお引き受けしましょう!" ("Problem child? We'll take it!")

Váli occupies floors 50-59 of Orochi Tower in Kaidan.

Note: Vali has been spelled/pronounced as Vali, Váli, and Valí. The corporate website[6] most often refers to it as Vali, however in-game it is most often found as Váli.

Namesake

Mythological Váli is a Norse God fathered by Odin specifically to effect an act of vengeance and growing to full adulthood within 24 hours for this purpose. Given a wolf's strength and rage by Odin, on his second day of life Váli avenges slain family against both innocent Hodr who he kills, and guilty Loki who he leaves for torture bound in entrails creatively re-purposed from the biology of Loki's son. Váli is among the very few gods expected to survive Ragnarok and oversee the new world's repopulation from a stock of two humans. (Another mythological Vali (unnaccented "a") is slain by Rama in the Hindu Ramayana). Váli is one of the abovementioned figures not yet encountered in-game.

Lore

"Flip the Ace of Pentacles - the Cyan Serpent Head - Váli.

THE UPRIGHT POSITION: A world leader in genetics, DNA research, and biotechnology, Váli produces pharmaceutical drugs that have helped millions overcome disease.

THE REVERSE POSITION: There are closed doors. There are research reports that contain words like "cryptozoology," "cryptobotany," and "paranormal." Their scientists know so much about bees, and so many fragments of the secret world sit on slides and in vials. In the corner of a laboratory, something rattles the bars of its cage while singing lullabies in dead languages."

Related Missions

It is expected that the majority of the Orochi Group related missions in Transylvania are related to Vali however that needs to be confirmed.

Projects

  • Excal - The exact nature and purpose of the Excal project is unknown. But, the dead scientists found in Kingsmouth were assigned to a project with that name.
  • DNA Project - The nature of this project is unknown, and it is only tangentially mentioned on the Orochi Group Website as part of a quote from Kitsune Hayabusa
