Description

The Colossus, Melothat is the fifth and sixth boss encounter in The Ankh instance.

First Encounter

Special Abilities

  • Overkill – If any player gets too close to the boss, he will stop moving and start dealing damage
  • Hammer – Stacking buff on the boss indicating that he is picking up speed, when it reaches 3+ stacks he begins to run
Adds

Strategy

The encounter area is a bridge wider than where Klein was encountered and is separate by 2 gates. Melothat has a stacking Momentum buff indicating that he is picking up speed and you'd better stop him. He starts by walking but with 3 or higher, he begins to run. Range should focus on the boss and Melee should focus on the adds and gates as the boss casts Overkill when any player is within melee range.

When the boss begins to run and approaches the destroyed Gate, the group should move through the Gate. Once Melothat reaches the Gate, he still stop and can safely be DPSed in melee range for a short period. Meanwhile the tank and healer should move to the second Gate and the Orochi Dead Ops add. When Melothat begins to move again, the DPS should continue attacking at range. It is critical to down the boss before the end of the bridge or the group will wipe.

Second Encounter

Special Abilities

  • Sinkhole – Black filth ground target AoE, remains on the ground for a period of time, players who come in contact are damaged, hindered, and receive the Filth Undertow
  • Filth Undertow – DoT from Sinkhole
  • Horrific Evolution – Stacking buff on the boss which causes each attack to do additional filth damage per stack
  • Relentless – Buff causing Hinder and Impair abilities to last only 33% of their duration on this boss, and the boss will become immune to CC if too many are cast in rapid succession

Strategy

Phase 1

The tank should take Melothat to the corner to the left of the entrance and the rest of the group max range from him. Melothat will cast Sinkhole, players should avoid these. If they come in contact with the ground AOE they will be damaged, hindered, and receive the Filth Undertow. Gradually kite the boss out of these.

Phase 2

Doctor Klein will appear on the scaffold and cast Unnatural Selection which buffs Melothat with Horrific Evolution, you will see a purple beam between the two. Melothat becomes immune to damage while this is active. At least 1 player needs to climb the scaffold and interrupt the spell. Klein will disappear, and the group can now damage Melothat. There is a threat drop so allow for the tank to reposition and regain threat.

Phase 3

Same as Phase 1 only now sinkholes will begin spawning Wretched Receptacle adds, which should killed by ranged.

Phase 4

Now Doctor Klein will appear in the corner to the right of the entrance. He will cast Unnatural Selection to buff Melothat and also he will cast the abilities from the previous encounter. The group should use the corner to line of sight any of the wave attacks.

Phase 5

Once Melothat is dead, the group should focus on the Klein. When his health reaches about 20%, Doctor Klein teleports to the highest platform and begins casting Ungodly Exhortation. Climb the scaffold and finish him.
