Creating a page

To create a page, navigate to the page you wish to create. You can do this by following a red link to a page that doesn't exist yet, such as Help:This Page. You can also get to the page by typing it directly into the URL bar (e.g. http://crygaia.net/wiki/index.php?title=Help:This_Page).

Also, you can create a page by typing the exact name of what you want the page to be in the search box on the left. You'll be taken to a page with a link asking if you want to create the page.

Before creating a page, you can preview what the page will look like by clicking the Show preview button next to the Save page button at the bottom of the page. Make use of this feature to be certain the page looks the way you want it to. When finished, click the Save Page button to confirm your addition.

Editing a page

To edit an existing page, simply locate the Edit button located at the top of the page to the right of the Discussion button.

You can edit pages without having an account, but keep in mind this will display your IP address in the page's history. Making an account is simple and can be done here. Some pages have been locked so only registered members can make changes.

Before editing a page, you can preview what your changes will look like by clicking the Show preview button next to the Save page button at the bottom of the page. Make use of this feature to keep excess changes to a minimum. When finished, click the Save Page button to confirm your changes.

Paragraphs

MediaWiki ignores single line breaks. To start a new paragraph, leave an empty line. You can force a line break within a paragraph with the HTML tags <br />.

Text formatting markup

You can format your text using wiki markup. This consists of normal characters like asterisks, single quotes or equal signs which have a special function in the wiki, sometimes depending on their position. For example, to format a word in italic, you include it in two pairs of single quotes like ''this''.
