In the name of the Black Pharaoh, Akhenaten, the dead are roused and cultists are infused with dark immortality. The Sentinels worry that their ancient powers won't be enough to stop them.

In the name of the Black Pharaoh, Akhenaten, the dead are roused and cultists are infused with dark immortality. The Sentinels worry that their ancient powers won't be enough to stop them.
Tier 1
Cultists have taken over the nearby temple ruins, where they perform grotesque rituals to raise the dead and infuse them with dark powers of the Black Pharaoh. Go there to learn more about their actions.
  • Investigate the temple
  • 0/6 Clear the area of Wilting Worshippers
  • Kill the Foul Ordinator
Tier 2
The worshippers are afflicted with some sort of blight. Keep exploring the temple to find out who's doing this.
  • Go further into the temple site
  • 0/5 Clear the area of Carriers
  • Kill the Maker of Offerings
Tier 3
After their release, the souls of the blighted worshippers are transported further down the temple. Investigate the purpose of this ritual, then disrupt it.
  • Follow the Blightborn Souls
  • Examine a sarcophagus
Tier 4
The souls are reanimating the mummies inside the sarcophagi. Avoid further corruption by destroying the sarcophagi and their contents!
  • Destroy sarcophagi
  • Examine the large sarcophagus (10:00 minutes)
  • Defeat Smenkhkare

Walkthrough

There are 4 tiers to this mission.

Tier 1/4

Tier 2/4

  • Go further into the temple site
    • Go to the area marked on your map, at (231,412)
  • 0/5 Clear the area of Carriers
    • Many of them in the area
  • Kill the Maker of Offerings
    • There are two of them in the area, after you go up the incline you can go either left or right and find one
    • The one to the right is at (205,398)

Tier 3/4

  • Follow the Blightborn Souls
    • There is nothing obvious to follow, just go to the area marked on the map
    • Go to the stairs at (232,387) and go down
    • You'll have to kill 2 Received Ones
  • Examine a sarcophagus
    • Not the big one in the middle, but the little ones around it
    • When you get close to one, a Received One will pop out of it and the mission will advance

Tier 4/4

  • Destroy sarcophagi
    • Note: You have to destroy 5
    • When you destory it a Received One will show up, unless you destroy it from a distance
  • Examine the large sarcophagus
    • Timed: 10:00 minutes
  • Defeat Smenkhkare
    • He will jump out of the large sarcophagus as you approach it
    • You will also be knocked back and Impaired for 3 seconds when he does

The cultists crawl out of the sand like beetles, and they call upon the ancient souls released from their sarcophagi. It is history repeating itself.

It will fall upon us to ensure it does not deviate from its intended path. Forgotten kings like Smenkhkare should remain just that: forgotten.

Trust it to the ancient Egyptians to leave a bad omen in every sarcophagus. And to completely lose the plot when those omens come back to haunt them.

Keeping these cultists' numbers under control seems like a game of whack-a-mole, but you're a trooper to keep swinging that hammer. Let's just hope that the prize at the end doesn't suck.

Oh, and Smenkhkare was a total wuss back in his glory days, so I'm not surprised he got his brain eaten by these lunatics.

Fun fact: A Senet board consists of a grid of thirty squares, arranged in rows of ten. I hope you're taking notes. I study these things just for you.

Moutnefert:: Do you want to play another game?
Nefertari the younger: We have to wait for Baba. He promised he would play also.
Moutnefert:: And he promised to tell us of "Los Ageles," where they make stars!
Nefertari the younger: They must have powerful gods in Lost Angels.
Moutemouia: I really don't think father will have time to tell you stories or play games of Senet.
Moutemouia: There are more important things happening.
Nefertari the younger: What's more important than spending time with us?
Moutnefert:: Or telling us of his travels?
Moutnefert:: As long as we stay together, says father, everything will be okay.
Moutemouia: He tells us what we need to hear,
Moutemouia: so that we will fulfill this "destiny" that we had no say in.
Moutemouia: (to Nefertari the younger) Nefertari, he plays games with you so that you will stay happy and protect the animals.
Moutemouia: And he tells your sister stories of foreign lands so she can feel the joy of travelling without ever going anywhere.
Nefertari the younger: What does he do for you then?
Moutemouia: He leaves me alone.
Moutemouia: Now the Hand of Aten are making sacrifices to the darkness and rousing the dead,
Moutemouia: and our powers are waning.
Moutemouia: Father's perfect family is coming apart at the seams, and he must try and mend it.
Nefertari the younger: I miss father.
Moutnefert:: He'll be here soon, I promise.
Moutemouia: You're making promises to a child that you'll never be able to keep.
Moutemouia: Take it from me, you'll hate yourself for that some day.
