Alternate reality game
An alternate reality game, or ARG, is a type of media that blends real life into the fictional game world, making use of real world tools and information. Because The Secret World has a modern setting, it is a way to enhance the lore and storytelling features of the game.
Many of the ARGs began when someone got in touch with the community and asked for help for solving a riddle or by providing clues through messages leading to websites, videos, or images. A variety of people, groups, and secret societies have been introduced, some of them appear in The Secret World; ARG participants.
