REPEATABLE (Recommended Level 36)
Dangerous artifacts have been stolen from under Tanis's nose and her superiors are furious. They cannot under any circumstances remain in the possession of cultists and should be recovered for safe keeping.
Tier 1
Tanis hasn't the manpower to retrieve the artifacts, and is too proud to ask for help. Each crate as a tracking device that HQ's beacon can tap into. The signal gets more intense the closer you are to a crate. Find and recover the artifacts
  • Leave the restaurant
  • Eavesdrop on Tanis's conversation
  • Tune the tracker to the first crate's frequency
  • Locate the first artifact crate
  • Recover the first artifact
Tier 2
The beacon works great! One crate has been recovered. Keep looking for more before the cultists come away with these dangerous artifacts.
  • Tune the tracker to the second crate's frequency
  • Locate the second artifact crate
  • Recover the second artifact
Tier 3
Two crates found. There are more of them around and all artifacts must be recovered. The suburbs are full of cultists. Be careful and follow the beacon's directions.
  • Tune the tracker to the third crate's frequency
  • Locate the third artifact crate
  • Recover the third artifact
Tier 4
So far, three artifacts have been recovered. Whatever is left cannot remain in either cultist or Phoenician hands.
  • Tune the tracker to the fourth crate's frequency
  • Locate the fourth artifact crate
  • Recover the fourth artifact
Tier 5
Only one artifact left to find. Once you have it, return to the Council of Venice encampment, where a faction liaison will meet you to take the items back to HQ.
  • Tune the tracker to the fifth crate's frequency
  • Locate the fifth artifact crate
  • Recover the fifth artifact
  • Quick! Stop the Herald
  • Recover the final artifact (Timed, 60 seconds)
  • Go to the Council of Venice encampment
  • Deliver the artifacts before the liaison leaves (Timed, 2 minutes)

Walkthrough

There are 5 tiers to this mission.

Tier 1/5

  • Leave the restaurant
    • Once you walk out in the market area, you'll receive a phone call
  • Eavesdrop on Tanis' conversation
    • Rather than going to stand next to Tanis go exactly where the red X is marked on your map
  • Tune the tracker to the first crate's frequency
    • You now have a tracker item in your inventory, use it
  • Locate the first artifact crate
    • Just beyond the northeastern path into the village, next to a burning corpse in a small patch of trees at (652,460)
    • There will be two Initiates worshiping nearby
  • Recover the first artifact
    • You may have to sneak up on the crate as it has the ability to knock you back

Tier 2/5

  • Tune the tracker to the second crate's frequency
    • Use it from your inventory again
  • Locate the second artifact crate
  • Recover the second artifact
    • Use the crate

Tier 3/5

  • Tune the tracker to the third crate's frequency
    • Use it again
  • Locate the third artifact crate
  • Recover the third artifact
    • The crate causes a slowing effect as you get close to it and will draw you towards itself once you're within range

Tier 4/5

  • Tune the tracker to the fourth crate's frequency
    • Use the tracker yet again
  • Locate the fourth artifact crate
    • Back across the river to the north, beyond a small cultist camp at (517,571)
    • Cultists within the range of the artifact will have the "Dire Purpose" buff, which appears to reduce the damage they take from players to be approximately 20% what it would normally be
  • Recover the fourth artifact
    • Use the crate

Tier 5/5

  • Tune the tracker to the last crate's frequency
    • Same as before
  • Locate the final artifact crate
    • Follow the dry riverbed south until you find an opening in the cliffside around (453,397). The artifact crate is at the foot of the Anubis statue inside
  • Recover the last artifact
    • A Herald will appear and knock you down, stealing the artifact
  • Quick! Stop the herald
    • Chase him until he stops and fights. You can use ranged attacks, DoTs, etc while chasing him
    • When he goes off the road he will stop, drop the crate and turn into a Filth-corrupted Creature
  • Recover the final artifact
    • Timed: 60 seconds
    • You must defeat the Herald and recover (use) the crate before time expires
  • Go to the Council of Venice encampment in al-Merayah
  • Deliver the artifacts before the liaison leaves
    • A Faction Courier will be waiting inside the warehouse across from Amporo Osorio, just to the left of the entrance, around (585,445)
    • Timed: 2 minutes

The Phoenicians are thieves, but do not underestimate them. They have endured.

The breaking of the brothers in Babylon; defeat at the hands of Cyrus; defeat at the hands of the Romans; not so long ago, defeat at the hands of the Dragon.

Each new embarrassment pushes them further out to sea. That is where they thrive.

These ancient artifacts they are smuggling out of Egypt - these weapons - have a long history of changing hands. You took them from those who took them from those who...

No one's hands are clean, but at least ours are our own.

These artifacts you've recovered are priceless. We're not talking glass case at the Smithsonian. These are dangerous weapons. Tokyo-level dangerous. Our rivals will go to great lengths to secure them.

From the look of things, the lengths you're willing to go are even greater. High five.

Phoenicians don't pitch their anchors often, but when they do it's usually to make a play for this kind of high-end merchandise.

Fun fact: one of the artifacts you recovered is identical to the one responsible for the Black Plague.

Excellent work. Occult artifacts such as the ones you've recovered are priceless. Of course, Phoenician scum like Tanis always manage to put a price on things. The whores! I shudder to think who they would have sold them to. They'll trade in anything - and with anyone - that makes them rich.

The artifacts are in fact ancient weapons. The Black Plague, Santorini, Tunguska - merely minor examples of their destructive power. You understand now why they must be kept from sullied hands.

That means anyone's hands but ours.

Dialogue

Intro
Tanis: (Talking on the phone) Yes.
Tanis: Yes I understand but on that note, I have some...
Tanis: not so great news.
Tanis: The latest shipment won't make it to the boat.
Tanis: I'm going to-
Tanis: Slow down, slow down.
Tanis: All I am asking for is some backup out here.
Tanis: Not only am I dealing with the Council and its lackeys, we have got Orochi and the-
Tanis: (Noticing you listening) (To the phone) Sorry, one second.
Tanis stares at you, not continuing her conversation, until you leave
Tanis: (Outside of the cutscene, but as you walk away from her table) I'll be watching you.
Phone Call
HDQ: A little bird told us you're in close proximity to a known Phoenician agent named "Tanis."
HDQ: We've been trying to get information on her for a while, she's deeply involved in what's going down in Egypt.
HDQ: We need you to get as close to Tanis as possible so we can patch you into her conversation.
HDQ: We'll be using some off-the-shelf thaumaturgy here, so we won't be able to hear anything on our side. Take notes.
Eavesdropping
Tanis: ...totally out of my hands. My contact goes AWOL, the trucks carrying the crates are stolen, and-
Voice: We operate under the radar.
Voice: You know this. If we didn't think you could do the job, you wouldn't be here.
Voice: We make do with less. So make do.
Voice: The question is, why are you still talking to me?
Voice: Why are you still alive to make excuses for this total fuck-up?
Tanis: I wouldn't be much use to you dead.
Tanis: I put tracking devices in the crates, I know where they are, but-
Voice: So let me see if I get this straight.
Voice: Some of the most dangerous artifacts in existence are now in the hands of cultists who want to blow everything and everyone to hell?
Tanis: That is the gist of it, I guess.
Voice: You guess, you guess... My ass is in a sling and you guess!
Voice: Take care of this. Get our merchandise back.
Voice: You don't want to have to explain yourself to anyone above me.
Tanis: I will take care of it. Don't...worry.
Click of remote side hanging up the phone
Tanis: Shit!
