It is an omen for the vampires - one of the greatest of their generals has not heeded his queen's call to arms. The three that you killed were equally worthy of a warrior's respect. They too were strong leaders and of ancient stock.

It is a stock that has been slowly dying for a long time. The bloodline has grown thin through the ages, turning their kind into a mass of mongrels and cliches. Is this why Mara has broken the truce and rallied her armies? Is it the final foolish stand of another dying breed?

No, we do not think so. The current models suggest that something more complex is in play.

Vampires are generally a European problem and so our intel is limited. The ones you took out are of "true ancient stock." This is apparently a major big deal. Kudos.

There's supposedly a truce between us. Clearly that's been broken, though we still don't get why. Why would the vampires seek to destroy their primary food and fuck source when they've co-existed with us for centuries?

I'm open to theories on this.

Hasdatean - this guy is old school nationalist and currently under the impression that you're under Romanian colors out there. Let's not go out of our way to set him straight.

Ciao-ciao

The three generals were of true ancient stock - no thin-blooded mongrels or experiments. You have succeeded where many historical greats have failed.

Vampires have of course been a problem for us in Eastern Europe for hundreds of years, though things have been relatively quiet since the truce. Mara's sudden call to arms is indeed strange. Why should the vampires seek to destroy their source of sustenance and procreation when they have co-existed with humans for centuries?

That is the question on all our lips.

Hasdatean - he made his mark in the doomed defence of Wallachia against the Khan's armies. That's what earned him his stripes. Over the years he has fought both with and against us. He has his code and he lives by it. I can respect that.

Dialogue

Introduction

Hasdatean: My, my. What do we have here?
Hasdatean: A hero...come to fight the villains.
Hasdatean: Your pulse is quickening...
Hasdatean: I taste it.
Father Lucian: Please do not lead our visitors into temptation, Hasdatean.
Father Lucian: This is a chapel.
Hasdatean: Of course it is, Father.
Hasdatean: We are men of code and conduct. I would not outstay your welcome...or your God's.
Father Lucian: You know that I ask for His mercy on all the living...and the dead.
Hasdatean: With a whampyri army at your door, you might save your prayers.
Hasdatean: if this is what passes for an army. Undisciplined. Without honour.
Hasdatean: Dogs yapping for meat, rolling in their own piss and shit to please their mistress.
Hasdatean: Forgive me, Father.
Father Lucian: Be sure I'll add it to your list.
Hasdatean: The ones who lead them and wear the uniforms of generals...
Hasdatean: traitors to this land, every one of them.
Hasdatean: Those who would wipe their fangs on the Romanian flag should be careful someone does not smash them out, hmmm?
Hasdatean: Even someone like you.
Hasdatean: you are too weak to destroy a blood elder...
Hasdatean: but you could wound them.
Hasdatean: To reform a whampyri body from dust is a long and...
Hasdatean: agonising process.
Father Lucian: So in their next lives they might strive to be without sin.
Hasdatean: So in their next lives they learn to fear the stake.
